Getting started. 1st) Left-click on Ist on the dial to toggle between real-time and demo/relax mode. When you are in real-time, you are ready to customize your Synclecron ("Sync-le-cron"). 2nd) Set it to your local natural time (time as your biological (circadian) clock vitally needs to know the "time") by left-clicking on IInd on the dial, and then entering your location parameters. U.S. states and cities are at the top of the list. Or use Google to find your exact latitude & longitude. Then enter them yourself after blanking out the location field. 3rd) Hit "OK", and your mind and body are ready to be more in tune with circadian time.
Maximizing the Synclecron's positive effects. Be positive to avoid the "nocebo" effect -- which, "can reverse the body's response to true medical treatment from positive to negative." (Root-Bernstein, 1998). Achieving best results is accomplished by building on this undeniable fact: your Synclecron really is displaying to your eyes and your brain what science says your bio-clock vitally needs to know to do a better job. Obviously, the more you look at your Synclecron, the more your brain and your mind are helping your under-informed bio-clock be better informed. |
The Synclecron's hands and dial display to your brain what your mind needs to know to get yourself to your next appointment on time. BUT MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY FOR YOUR HEALTH, its white to gray circle at night and its yellow circle in the day (together with their complementary counter-circles) indicate units of local natural time which are as vital to your biological clock as vitamins are to the rest of your body. Because they show your brain what your bio-clock needs to know to better regulate your circadian rhythms. So look at your customized to your location Synclecron often, and especially if you work in a windowless environment (or otherwise do not have direct access to the sun and the stars.) It is not good for your health to be psychologically disoriented and physically stressed out from being separated from knowledge of the passing of day and night. As the Synclecron adds local natural time to corporate standard time, it adds a higher level of circadian awareness within your body upon which to apply both conventional and complementary medicine.
Why the seemingly wrong outer "circadian" dial, which (from a local natural time point of view) ends up being correct?
Because we have been conditioned to see ourselves as cogs in machines, not as human beings. The Synclecron's Ist through XIIth "proportional" or "seasonal" hours are perfectly placed. They are placed the way until relatively recently, human beings have always known time. In most cultures, as far back as the Egyptians, the length of each new day's hour (and each new night's hour) varied based on latitude -- and time of year. A summer night's hour could be forty-five of our minutes and a winter's night's hour perhaps a modern hour and a half. Which, of course, matches the way summer nights are much shorter than winter nights over much of the earth. But this is not a history lesson. It is a chronobiological wake-up call. "Proportional hours" are the organic variable way all humans "bio-logically" need to be "at one" with circadian time.
By bringing back to our minds and bodies that organic varying kind of time (without giving up the sixty minute average hour over the course of a year), the Synclecron restores us to the way we need to see time. It is amazing how much people say that looking at their Syncecrons make them feel calmer and, in a curiously comforting way, happier. But only surprising until you remember that the Synclecron's daily and nightly circles are moving with the same flowing and ebbing rhythms which are found in healthy human circadian rhythms.
